  • I/my organisation wants to book you for an event, what can you do for us?
Lots of things! We cover a broad scope of 18th century civilian life. Please Contact Us, giving us some background to your organisation and what you are hoping to achieve, and we will be happy to discuss with you what we can do.
  • How many members does The Mannered Mob have?
Our membership is changing all the time, but generally we are quite a small group of around two dozen members – although sadly, modern life means we rarely all make it to an event together. Being a smaller group makes us flexible and friendly, as we all know each other and our abilities well. We are experienced in providing meaningful events for all types and sizes of venues, as well as in collaborating with other appropriate groups.
  • I/my organisation is interested in hiring the group for an event, do we need to provide you with equipment?
It depends what you are hoping for from an event. If the event is mostly outside, we would appreciate somewhere that we can go to for shelter should it rain - we do not have our own tent or awning to use. We also appreciate the use of chairs and tables if possible, however we can bring some of our own if needed. For our displays (for example surgery or food) each expert brings their own equipment. We do need somewhere to get changed out of our modern clothes. Contact Us to discuss your needs and ours.
  • I know a lot of re-enactment groups camp, where do you stay?
This depends upon the event, and what is available. If it is a one-day event, we do not cover accommodation for our members. If it is a two-day event (or more), then we will need somewhere to stay. If you can provide us with somewhere at or near the venue, that is wonderful. If not, we need to budget accordingly, so that may increase the price we charge. Accommodation does not have to mean camping space, but could just be a roof over our heads. This is something we can discuss when you Contact Us about your event.
  • How much does it cost to book The Mannered Mob for an event?
This depends upon what you are hoping for from an event. As all our events are tailored to the needs of the client, we do not have a set price. Please Contact Us to discuss costs.
  • Do you only work at the weekend?
Generally yes, we prefer our events to be at the weekend, or bank holidays, as this is our hobby, not our profession, and we all have jobs to go to as well. We might be able to consider weekdays under certain circumstances, but would need plenty of notice. Dates and times are something we will be happy to talk about when we arrange an event.
  • This is awkward, but I’m worried about conservation at the venue.
The Mannered Mob is highly experienced in delivering events in historic settings, and we completely understand the need to be careful of things in our environment when we are working. We are very aware of the delicacy of historic places and things, and will treat everything with the utmost care. If there are specific things or areas you need us to be careful of, just tell us! If we can’t do something, let us know! If you are worried about food or drink, we won’t have it in those areas (although we will need somewhere for quick refreshments!). Just let us know your concerns in advance and we can work with you to make sure all is well.
  • Does the site need to be a stately home for you to hold an event?
No! Although we have a lot of experience of delivering events in country houses and similar settings, we are very flexible and always enjoy coming to new venues. In the past we have held events at local and open-air museums, art galleries, and town and village festivals. If you are not sure if we will suit, please Contact Us, don’t hesitate to ask!
  • I am interested in re-enactment, how do I join your group?
We are always happy to welcome new members the group, but we do have a process to make sure that we are a good fit for each other. Contact Us if you are interested, and someone will get in touch with you to discuss the next steps.
